Remember

It’s 11 September, one of those days when you remember where you were; the anniversary of a memorable event in Canadian history. The USA closed their airspace. Flights found refuge in Canada, notably in Newfoundland.

  1. We all have such unique memories of that day. Seeing the towers come down on live TV always sticks in my memory. Not knowing what was really happening and what to expect.

  2. I was in a French training school I had created, at the Dept of Agriculte, and I got a notice my (now) late husband Ed Cooke had called trying to reach me. I called him. We heard about the plane crashes, and I stopped the school and asked who lived nearby and had CNN. Not everybody did back then.

We drove in a convoy to the closest home. I remember sitting on the floor in front of the TV saying “oh God, there’s going to be a war.”

    And there was. Cheers anyways,

    BT
