Check out the addresses of the homes where your ancestors lived on Google Street View. Is it still the same house? Was it bombed, or demolished? What kind of neighbourhood?

I have often done this in streetview, first, to take a look at any place where I might think about staying, and also to see where my ancestors lived.
It was truly bizarre, on a honeymoon of a short nasty marriage (he robbed me blind), just after arriving in London England for the very first time in the 1980s, to somehow feel at home in a very serious way. Only later did I learn, again through streetview, that where I was staying then was 2 doors from where my family was living in the 1830s. Cheers, BT
I do this all the time as most of my ancestors are in the UK. Many are no longer there in places like London, but in the towns & villages the old houses often survive. Walking down the road where my ancestors lived so many years ago is fun and often very enlightening. I also love to use “Know Your Place” to compare current maps with maps of the past.
